Yalova Ataturk Palace
Yalova Atatürk Palace which was built in the Termal district of Yalova in 1929 at the request of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a two-story palace with a dedicated wing. This wing, built in the oldest periods of the Republic, covers. an area 245 square meters.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was known for his interest in the city of Yalova, repeating the phrase "Yalova is my city". He visited Yalova for the first time in 1927. During his visit, he stayed in the wooden palace of the ‘Baltaşı’ farm, next to the Termal springs, built by the second Sultan Abdul Hamid (1876-1909). Mustafa Kemal and his friends chose the location where the palace stands today to welcome the Iranian Shah Rida Pahlawi in 1929. The palace was completed in 1929 in a record time of 38 days at the hands of the palace's architect, Prof. Dr. Hakki Al-Dam.
Atatürk Palace in Yalova was called the main public palace, then people started calling it “Atatürk Palace ''.
The palace consists of 3 reception rooms and 11 bedrooms, and there is no kitchen in the palace as a fire precaution. Most of the furniture in the small palace was brought from Dolmabahçe Palace so that it becomes the palace as if it comes from the past to the present with complete authenticity.
This palace was at the origin of many important decisions of the time, such as the transition to a multi-party system, which influenced the political and social structure of the Republic of Turkey and the National Raw Materials Week (officially called Investment Week and Turkish raw materials), the creation of the Turkish Historical Society and the Turkish Language Association. This palace was listed at the Directorate of National Palaces by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on July 24, 1930 for protection as national property.
